Pierre Fauré’s Electra from 1941, one of the many electric cars which were built in France during WW II to combat the almost complete absence of petrol.
Found at mrscharroo flickr account, where he has impressive collection of old microcars that I have never seen before.
Solarpower-cooled popsicles. Quite clever (even for a PR stunt) and the popsicle-shaped-infographics are nicely done by Keli Anderson. Reminds me a bit of this idea.
I just recently stumbled upon this french/german produced electric microbus called Mia Electric, which I find quite appealing, probably thanks to former VW designer Murat Gunak. But it’s a bit too small to fit in the whole family….
Dashboard of the Lamborghini Reventon.
In 1967 the Ford Comuta concept vehicle was used to demonstrate the potential of the electric vehicle, with a top speed of 40mph and a total range of around 40 miles on a full charge.
Above is a shot of the dashboard of the Nissan Leaf. As part of my work at etrans, I am looking into how we can make the experience of the electric car better, more convenient and all around attractive. One of the potential areas we have identified and currently working with is what we have called ‘Smart Data’. App’s such as the carwings feature implemented in the Leaf, which ranks the car and drivers ability to drive economically and awards the best with Gold or Platinum - and it seems like a feature some drives find fun and motivating.
Also of interest is that Ford has chosen to present their Ford Electric tomorrow at CES along side Consumer Electronics, instead of at the Detroit motor show the following week. Via.
Official Trailer: Revenge of the Electric Car follows four men and their dreams of electric vehicles. There is Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors, as well as Bob Lutz, former product developer for GM (and the man behind the Chevy Volt). Then there is Carlos Ghosn, CEO of Nissan-Renault, and “Reverend Gadget,” of Left Coast Electric Conversions.
A 2004 concept car from Opel now seems it will make it way to the market as an electrical car. The interior is a bit too tool like to me, but otherwise looks pretty fresh. Check out the details of the Opel Trixx over at Designboom
On a side note: I didn’t expect that I would blog this much about cars.…
Interesting car concept by architect and inventor Buckminster Fuller from 1933. Normann Forster is a big fan of Buckminster and recently build a copy. Check it out the car in action in this little video clip.
Just finished reading the cover story of the october Wired, which tracks the latest ups and downs of Tesla. Interesting and well written piece on how Tesla almost didn’t make it off the ground but then turning it around and taking over Toyotas huge Californian factory at a fraction of the price. Recommendable.
Doing some desk research on the maturity on electric transportation in relation to my work at etrans. Kia’s concept for an urban electrical verhicle (EV) the fun Kia Pop was just presented in real live scale model at the Paris Motor Show. Going all in with the design! More at Wired.
I’m on my way to Kolding to start on a 3 month project for etrans. The video here should explain the overall goal of etrans:
The aim of the project is to provide the methodological basis for the development and design work which will help the electric car become both an environmental and commercial success in Denmark.
More on my part in the project will follow as I get started.
I thought this was a cell phone when I first saw it: the Citroën Karin. I am currently working a bit with the automobile business, as I am helping Falck (danish roadside assistance) use a design approach to develop new services, as part of the bigger Etrans project.
