This is pretty clever. Smart way to do good and market the guys behind it (a social innovation company):

A Brief Rant on the Future of Interaction Design
Can’t help but love stuff like this: a look into the future of how we’ll interact with computers, even though this concept by Microsoft doesn’t really bring any new ideas we haven’t seen before. The part of a future device where payment, phone, computer, ID etc. has merged to one is nothing new, but it’s still very interesting. It’s so logical, but still faces many real life obstacles. Also interesting to look at how we can make the fluent transitions work as well as it’s depicted here. Following above link leads you to Bret Victor who points out even more critical issues with this ‘vision’, especially in regards to our tactile experiences of how we interact with our surroundings, which are great and valid points.
I believe it was the same point that Marko Ahtisaari, design director of Nokia, was making when I heard him recently (introducing the N9) comparing our current interaction with smartphones to how we interacted with early cars which were controlled with a tiller for the first 20 years of existence.
But still, if you have a little bit of gadget freak in you and are interested in interaction design the video is worth your time.
Great video and smart flip phone concept creating by Kristian Ulrich Larsen and a couple of fellow students from Designskolen Kolding. It was just mentioned over at Pharrell’s Billionaire Boys Club blog. Kristian also participated in the Design Camp this fall with the cool concept Dotdot.
A 2004 concept car from Opel now seems it will make it way to the market as an electrical car. The interior is a bit too tool like to me, but otherwise looks pretty fresh. Check out the details of the Opel Trixx over at Designboom
On a side note: I didn’t expect that I would blog this much about cars.…
Interesting car concept by architect and inventor Buckminster Fuller from 1933. Normann Forster is a big fan of Buckminster and recently build a copy. Check it out the car in action in this little video clip.
I saw Christien Meindertsma when she received the Index Award in 2009 here in Copenhagen with this project PIG 06049, which tracks the ‘materials’ of a pig to no less than 185 different products! In 2 weeks she will be back in Denmark giving a talk at LynFabrikken and Republikken. Check it out if you have the time.
The Future of the Book
Design and innovation firm IDEO imagines the future of the book and how value could be added through diverse discussion, connected readers and creative story telling methods. Meet Nelson, Coupland and Alice.
Always been a bit sceptic about e-books (not surprisingly since I am the type who enjoy the analog and tactile feel of vinyl over CDs and MP3s), but this is 3 good points from IDEO, and nicely visualized as well.
